Meet Derek Herrera, Founder & CEO
As a Marine Raider in Afghanistan, my life changed forever when a bullet struck my spine during a mission, leaving me paralyzed from the chest down. Initially, I thought learning to walk again would be my greatest challenge. But I discovered an even more personal battle: bladder management. These experiences led me to found Bright Uro. Drawing from my own journey as a patient, I’m driven by the belief that there’s a better way. By combining innovation with compassion, we’re revolutionizing urodynamics care to ensure every patient receives the dignity and respect they deserve.
